'Privileged Information' Plan for Sound/Soundtrack

 Composition:

  • The plan for my entire soundtrack is that it will be self-composed - I recently completed an EPQ, in which I had to compose a musical, so have well-versed knowledge on how to use composition tools etc.
  • Sound effects: The type writer sound effect is one of the only effects I should need for the film, which plays over the inter title at the beginning of the film
  • I will also use the sound effect of an alarm clock

Act One:

  • For Act One, the film opens with a 'Peaceful 'Morning' Underscore'  - I want to lead the spectator into a false sense of security with this piece - also, create humour as it will only last a few seconds before being suddenly cut off by the sound effect of the alarm clock.
  • Similar to a tone created in 'Morning Mood' (Grieg)/ lullaby feel

  • Then next piece of music will be more sprightly and fast-paced - continuing this leading into a false sense of security - similar to the music of 'Kristofferson's' theme' - Alexandre Desplat  (Fantastic Mr Fox) and 'The winner is' - Michael Danna (Little Miss Sunshine) links:

  • This music continues until the front door is shut behind LENA as she goes out, in the static camera shot

Act Two:

  • In act two, once the CCTV footage photo has been shown, the underscore will become tense and suspenseful - it will change in tempo once LENA starts her escape of the interview and starts to walk across Waterloo bridge
  • For example, the score will be a similar pace to 'Cornfield Chase' - Hans Zimmer (Interstellar), though more techno/urban in feel
  • Nearing the end of Act Two, when LENA is walking towards her house, down her street, the music will become more solemn and reflective - 'Rich and Suspenseful' - for inspiration - 'On the Nature of Daylight' - Max Richter (Shutter Island), 'Trio in E flat major' (Howard Shelley) or 'On Reflection' - Max Richter (Black Mirror)
  • I also want to reference the lullaby feel from earlier - to link the film back to its beginning

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GK86w99Gyg - Trio in E flat major
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFR9cpgiseA - Black Mirror

Act three:

  • When LENA enters the house, the score may fade out
  • The silence continues as she walks up the stairs
